149th Street and Saint Nicholas in Harlem. I love Broadway, but I think if I had to pick a favorite avenue in Harlem/Washington Heights, it would be Saint Nicholas. It has tons of beautiful apartment buildings and brownstones and not so much commercial stuff, or at least it’s less concentrated than Broadway. When the weather’s nice out — and it’s really been amazing since the snowstorm, a perfect New York City fall — I could easily spend the day walking up and down Saint Nicholas, just sort of talking to the buildings like Sally Brown used to do if you ever read Peanuts.
