Here are some more shots of the vacant lot next door to where I live. I like to complain about the vacant lot, but it’s actually kind of a dream come true to live next to ruins, because they’re quite beautiful, especially when you focus on the rocks, bricks, and weeds. Pictured here are the remains of what we gardeners like to call a “water element” — like a little pool or fountain or something — that was built into the backyard 110 years ago when the houses were constructed. I wish I could see a time-lapse video of what this yard is going to look like for the next 100-500 years, but I’m pretty sure that’s not going to happen.
